The soloist of the concert is one of the best cellists of our time, Steven Isserlis . Recognized worldwide for his technique and musicianship, Isserlis works as a soloist, chamber musician, writer and presenter. He regularly performs with the world's best orchestras and has released dozens of albums. In 1998, he was awarded the title of Commander of the Order of the British Empire. Isserlis plays a Stradivari cello dating back to 1726. The Estonian National Symphony Orchestra will perform Robert Schumann's Cello Concerto at this concert.
The concert will open with a new work by Helena Tulve . The Estonian National Symphony Orchestra will also perform for the first time French composer Lili Boulanger's latest orchestral work "From a Spring Morning". The spring mood continues with Robert Schumann's First Symphony, in which "spring" can be seen as synonymous with a new beginning in the composer's life.
