The opening work of ERSO’s anniversary season gala is a masterpiece of Estonian golden classics, Heino Eller’s tone poem Dawn. Robert Schumann’s fantasy-like Piano Concerto has been described as the composer’s musical declaration of love to his wife, Clara Schumann, who was also its first performer. Performing the concerto with ERSO is South Korean pianist Yekwon Sunwoo, whose global career was launched into the stratosphere after winning the gold medal at the 2017 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. The second half of the evening features Ludwig van Beethoven’s brilliant Symphony No. 5, featuring the “knocking of fate” motif known to every music lover. ERSO is conducted by Chief Conductor Olari Elts.
ERSO TV broadcasts are produced in cooperation with Klassikaraadio and Helipilt Grupp OÜ.
ERSO thanks Tammo Sumera, Mait Visnapuu, Priit Perend, Eva-Liisa Heinmaa.
